Dolanog Tune Club

Tune Club is for all those wishing to learn and swap Welsh folk tunes on traditional (or not so traditional!) instruments. The emphasis is on learning tunes by ear in the time honoured oral/aural fashion. The dots are available at the end of each evening for those who would like them but it`s recommended that people bring some sort of recording device with them (cassette/minidisc/MP3/dictaphone) in order to record and remember tunes.

The evening costs just £1 per person to cover expenses and tea and coffee are provided.

Dolgellau: Sesiwn Ioan Rhagfyr

A traditional music session that meets monthly at Gwesty Gwernan, near Dolgellau. The name of the session is inspired by Ioan Rhagfyr (1740 -1821), who was born in and lived in Dolgellau. He was one of the first known players of the flute in Wales. He also composed dance music for the flute, as seen in the group pic. The session, whilst it mainly reflects the inherited music of its locality, is open to all kinds of music and acoustic musicians such as singers, fiddlers, accordionists, pipers, banjo players, harpers and so on.
